Community School Coordinator

Wayne Center for the Arts Dance Department is seeking an energetic, organized, coordinator for our growing Community School of Dance. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, a joyful teaching demeanor, and the determination and enthusiasm to build our existing programming. This full-time position will oversee all Community School classes, arrange performance opportunities, and pursue new and additional dance outreach in the local community. Experience working with a diverse group of students, parents, and community partners is a plus. The Community School Coordinator will also have some responsibilities with the Wayne Center Ballet, our student pre-professional company.

The WCA Community School of Dance is the introductory and recreational division of the Wayne Center for the Arts, a non-profit arts organization in Wooster, OH. Our current program includes classes from pre-ballet and tumbling to adult ballet and fitness. We are also currently seeking qualified dance instructors in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and more. 

The successful candidate should be willing to commute or relocate to Wooster, OH. The Community School Coordinator’s schedule is flexible but will likely include several evenings a week and weekend (Saturday morning) commitments. 

Qualifications:

 -  2-3 years teaching dance

 -  Professional or college dance experience

 -  Ability to work with dancers of all age ranges, from preschool to adult

 -  Ability to teach Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theater or Modern/Contemporary

-  Evening and possible weekend availability

Art Educators

Wayne Center for the Arts offers multiple teaching assignments at the Walnut Street School location, as well as outreach teaching opportunities throughout the community.  We are continually looking for educators who are enthusiastic about art to join our team and teach visual art classes for preschool and elementary age students as well as adults.

Candidates that love teaching and are responsible, reliable, and flexible are encouraged to apply. Good organization and classroom management skills are required. Familiarity with the Ohio Department of Education 2012 Visual Art Standards is helpful and at a BA in art education, studio art, performing art, or similar field is preferred.

Teaching artists interested in independent contracting for instruction of any medium of visual, performing, or literary art form can apply via the contact info below.  We are now planning for class offerings in summer 2019, beginning in June. Inquiries should include lesson plans for either multi week class sessions or day workshops. You can refer to our most recent course catalog for examples of the types and lengths of classes we currently offer.
