Arts Center Transforms Into Hogwarts on January 19!

Sorting hats, flying keys, magical creatures: we’ve cast a spell over the Wayne Center for the Arts! The magic returns on Saturday, January 19, 2019 as our local art center transforms into a school of Witchcraft and Wizardry for “A Day at Hogwarts,” inspired by the Harry Potter book series by J.K. Rowling. The event runs 11 am-4 pm and is open to all fans ages 7 and up, featuring themed art classes with new projects for 2019.

All young witches and wizards will gather in the Great Hall for an opening celebration and sorting ceremony, where they’ll divide into houses that will travel the building together. Our staff won’t forget their own Polyjuice Potion as they transform into professors of the Wizarding World! Courses this year include Transfiguration, Charms, Care of Magical Creatures, and Herbology and Potions. The whole historic building will transform into Hogwarts, with surprises around every corner (just don’t get caught by Mrs. Norris)!

Become the magical creatures that you know you are and do it with care in Care of Magical Creatures.

Transfigure clay into a Hogwarts-crested plate of your own design, ohe worthy of any great or small hall. Craft your own brew of medicinal herbs and learn to identify the plants to use for your magical potions. Create your very own spellbook that you cannot find in any bookstore either in the Muggle world or in Diagon Alley. And watch out for the t-t-t-TROLL IN THE DUNGEON!

Registration is open HERE! Participants can register by house (Griffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin--HINT: you can take a sorting quiz at JKR’s website, “Pottermore” to learn individual House characteristics), and are encouraged to come in costume. Tickets for this year’s event are $75 for WCA members and $90 for non-members. Watch our social media for special ticket discounts! Most courses will provide participants with take-home projects they can keep as a magical memento.

Seats are going faster than a flying Ford Anglia, so we’re recommending early registration. Bring a friend and come experience the magic of art!
