Raku: Session 1 | Fall 2019: Oct. 12 | Ages 18+
Saturday 1:30-4:30 pm
Instructed by Adam McVicker
Location: Front Pottery (Lower level)
During this exclusive event for WCA pottery students, we will fire our pottery outside in a small raku kiln. This process involves removing pieces while they are still red-hot and placing them into a reduced-oxygen environment with flammable materials. This process produces one-of-a-kind surface designs for non-food safe pieces. It can also result in shattered work, but the risk is worth the reward! Must be a current WCA pottery student to enroll.
Throwing Pumpkins | Fall 2019: Oct. 14-15 | Ages 18+
Monday & Tuesday 6:30-8:30 pm
Instructed by Beth Negro
During this workshop you will learn how to create closed forms on the potters wheel and then alter them to create pumpkins. You then have the option to make it a luminary, a lidded pumpkin, or simply decorative.
Prerequisite: Continuing Wheel

Techniques include slip painting, pouring, and trailing during the first session. This session will be done on leather-hard pottery, so plan accordingly! Session two will focus on glazing with wax resist. You must be a current WCA pottery student to enroll.
