The classes listed below include ages 6-9 years old.  These classes are also available for viewing through the Dance, Visual Art, and Theatre pages on our website.  The age parameters are listed for each class.  Instructor permission is required for anyone older or younger than the class age parameters. Please register students according to the listed  parameters.

Monsters come in all shapes and sizes; some are scary, some are cute, and some are just plain weird! As Monsterologists you will explore the myths and folklore that spawned these mighty creatures and create drawings and other cool crafts! From Abominable Snowman to Unicorns, we will look at them all. Instructor: Jacob Nelson

This class focuses on developing fundamental skill levels by learning to hand-build as well as the beginning steps to throwing on the potter’s wheel. Students will also learn a variety of methods to decorate, carve, and glaze their creations. Each week will feature a different structured project along with time for independent exploration. Children are introduced to the beginnings of ballet in a positive and creative environment. Classes focus on developing strength, flexibility, musicality, and love for dance.  Each class is 45 minutes long. Instructors: Lauren Stenroos, Katie Newlon

Ballet II

Our Primary Ballet Syllabus is specifically designed to prepare students for the requirements of Ballet A within Wayne Center for the Arts Professional Division. Classes include basic ballet vocabulary as well as exercises to develop strength, coordination, and flexibility. Musicality and expressive dance are emphasized throughout the class. Prior ballet experience is not required. Each class is 1 hour long. Instructor: Lauren Stenroos, Katie Newlon

Ballet III

Ages 8+

These classes are for children ages 8 and older who wish to study ballet recreationally. Students will receive the same quality teaching as the Pre-Professional division but at a slower and less technical pace. Each class is 1 hour long. Instructor: Lauren Stenroos

This class will familiarize children with tap dancing.  Students will learn to identify basic tap movements and fundamental rhythms.  Young tap dancers will experience adventures in sound by linking the fundamental steps together and memorizing a sequence of rhythmic steps. Tell Me a StoryTell Me a Story: Critters & Creatures

Get ready for family time, theatre style! This class introduces children, along with their parents, to storytelling, character imitation, expression, movement, and spatial awareness. Using nursery rhymes as the basis for this class, students will sing and act while developing a storybook as a keepsake of their journey. Focusing on the wonders of the animal kingdom, our critters and their parents will crawl, leap, jump, and wiggle through multiple nursery rhyme adventures, exploring the joy of dramatic storytelling. Get into the rhythm with this fun-filled class geared toward our youngest singers. This class will help students gain vocal training through warm up, play-singing, identifying musical elements, and group song. Students are sure to never miss a beat with their posture, presentation, and vocal technique while singing great songs appropriate for their voices. Instructor: Katie Zarecki


Knight SchoolKnight School

Lords and Ladies of the land, prepare yourself for battle! This theatre class is a beginning stage combat course set within the framework of medieval knight training. Students will develop skills in unarmed and armed stage combat while reinforcing the virtues of being a knight. At Wayne Center for the Arts, it is believed that knights are both boys and girls! Students will be able to perform safely small scenes with choreographed combat involved. This theatre class is necessary in a young actor’s growth because confidence in scenes of conflict will assure the safety of themselves and of their scene partner. Instructor(s): Ryan Zarecki
