The Mysterious: Writing Workshop for Kids Ages 10-13

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious,” declared Albert Einstein “It is the source of all true art and science.” In this workshop, we will explore mysterious realms, real and unreal, from outer space to under the sea, and turn them into stories and poems. Each week, we will read, imagine, write, and experiment with fun exercises. Students will get to share their work with each other and learn how to give and receive insightful feedback.

Writing Everything: Poetry and Prose Workshop Ages 18+

“Everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise,” said Sylvia Plath. Open to writers of any level, in this workshop, we will bravely transform the stuff of our lives into poetry and prose. Each week we will read exemplary work, discuss the elements of craft, and imagine and improvise our own work with writing prompts and exercises. We will share our writing with each other and provide constructive criticism, with the goal of generating several new pieces during the session.

Telling it Slant: Memoir and Personal Essay Workshop Ages 18+

Emily Dickinson wrote, “Tell all the truth/but tell it slant.” Open to writers of any level, in this class we will practice twisting, slanting, and shaping the truth into artful and compelling narratives. We will read and discuss exemplary work, talk about the craft of non-fiction, and generate our own pieces through writing prompts and exercises. The session will conclude with a shared reading and constructive workshop of our writing.

Holiday Drop & Shop

Expressive Arts Workshop Ages 6-10

Expressive Arts use various arts—movement, drawing, painting, sculpting, music, writing, sound, and improvisation- in a supportive setting to facilitate growth and development. It is a process of discovering one’s self through any art form that comes from an emotional depth. This workshop will explore songwriting, moving, and making art. Students will emerge feeling rejuvenated and ready to use new tools of communicating their hope.

Have you always wanted to learn to knit but never gotten around to it? Well, here’s your chance to learn the basics from a pro. Knitting is a great skill that will allow you to make any number of creative and useful items (and keep your hands busy during boring meetings!). In addition, it can be a relaxing, meditative activity.

Mondays are for Drawing

Ages 4 – 7 or 8 – 13

Students will learn the basic techniques of proper sighting methods, contour line drawing, organizational lines, gesture drawing (sketching), and drawing with value. Students will learn to use drawing pencils, compressed charcoal and ink.


Wednesdays are for Painting

Ages 4 – 7 or 8 – 13

Acrylic Painting – Students will learn paint handling and mixing, proper brush stroke techniques, basic color theory, texturing and finishing techniques.

Mondays are for Painting

Ages  8 – 13

Watercolor – Students will engage in the delicate process of learning watercolor techniques, from basic application methods, to more advanced blending techniques. Students will use watercolor paints, watercolor pencils, and watercolor crayons.


Wednesdays are for Clay

Ages 8 – 13

Students will learn the basic techniques of hand building, and throwing on the potter’s wheel.
