Community School of Dance

The Community School of Dance is a recreational program outlined for dancers of every age.  The Toddler & Me Class begins at age 18 months while the Ballroom classes keep us all dancing into the future.  This program promotes exploratory dance lessons using movement for expression, wellness, learning academics, and fitness. It also provides dance lessons for those who are not old enough or cannot make the time commitment required of the pre-professional school. The Community School uses the same dance faculty and syllabi as the Pre-Professional School. The Community School consists of three levels (One, Two, and Three)

With Daddy or Mommy along for the ride, our budding dancers work towards independence in preparation from dancing “solo” in an upcoming season. We will explore dance and curiosity through music, movement, balance, and fun. Mom, Dad, or another loved one should participate in the class along with their little dancer. This active role encourages and keeps the little dancer on track.

Children’s Dance: Contemporary

12 Weeks- Monday, August 28 – Monday, November 20 (no class Sept 4)

This modern dance course will highlight the modern dance techniques developed by Merce Cunningham, José Limón, and Jennifer Muller. These techniques are divided among various physical extremes: fall and recovery, rebound, weight, suspension, and isolation. These ideas can be illustrated in the way a dancer uses the floor as a place from which to rise, return to and then rise from again. The way a dancer explores the range of movement between the one extreme of freedom from gravity and the other of falling into it.
