Guest Artists

Eva Kwong

received her BFA (Ceramics, Sculpture) from the Rhode Island School of Design and her MFA (Ceramics, Drawing) from the Tyler School of Art. She has lectured at over 130 schools around the country and in Australia, China, Japan, Korea and Italy. Her compelling, colorful and biomorphic sculptures, vessels and installations have been exhibited extensively in the US and in Asia, Europe and South America. She is the recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Ohio Arts Council, Arts Midwest, PA. Council on the Arts and the Mid-Atlantic Arts Consortium.

Teapot Workshop by Guest Artist Eva KwongEva Kwan

(only 8 seats available for those with an intermediate/advanced ceramic skill level)

In this intimate workshop you will learn how to throw, assemble and decorate teapots from start to finish. Learn how to throw and hand-build the different components of a teapot, including the body, handle, spout and lid. This workshop will feature guided demonstrations with world-renowned ceramic artist Eva Kwong. This is a great opportunity to create a functional piece of art with endless creative possibilities. Participants will be limited to five “I’m a little teapot” jokes.

Jake Nelson

is a local artist and student at Kent State University, where he diligently studies sculpting and ceramics. His Art reflects his love comic books and pop culture, with tongue in cheek wit. He also excels at drawing and illustrating, having devoted most of his life to writing and creating comic books and stories. He firmly believes that Art should be fun and created in an environment of optimism and encouragement.

Drawing: Epic Illustrating! By Guest Artist Jake Nelson (Ages 10+)

Explore the foundations drawing and illustration. Engage in various projects that will hone your skills into true talent. Participate in games designed by the greatest artists in history. Learn to illustrate cartoons and comic book characters, as well as learn to draw and render objects and figures realistically.
