Theatre Workshops

Stage Combat Workshop: (10 and older)  Register Now!

This one-time workshop with Rubber City Shakespeare Company’s Artistic Director Dane Leasure, who is certified with the Society of American Fight Directors, will lead theatre and dance students through the fundamentals of hand-to-hand combat. Students will learn how to safely and theatrically execute slaps, punches, hair pulls and other stage combat choreography. This workshop will serve to gauge interest in future stage combat offerings as well as partner with Rubber City Shakespeare. Instructor: Dane Leasure (Rubber City Shakespeare Company-Artistic Director, Society of American Fight Directors Certified)

Talk Like a Brit (British Dialects Workshop): (10 and older)  Register Now!

Want to learn how to speak like Harry Potter and his friends, the residents of Narnia or the characters in Dickens’ A Christmas Carol? Utilizing games, songs and exercises, this one-time workshop will allow students to get a grasp on the sound changes; pronunciation and musicality of two of the most commonly used stage dialects: Standard British (RP) and Cockney. This workshop can also serve to stir up some excitement for A Christmas Carol. If we decide to use dialects in the play, we can repeat this workshop for all cast members in the fall. Theater Design Workshop: (10 and older)  Register Now!

This one-time workshop will allow theater and visual art students to explore costume and scenic design for the theatre with industry professionals. A potential opportunity to partner with College of Wooster for instructors and tour scenic and costume shops. This workshop will also serve to gauge interest for future offerings in theater design/technology. Instructors: Jason Coale (Ashland University, Scenic Design) & Charlene Gross (College of Wooster, Costume Design)
