Theatre

The Wayne Center for the Arts theatre program is built on the philosophy that all young people should have the opportunity to explore and experience theatre production and performance within an educational environment that encourages creative expression.  We welcome all young people who wish to contribute to the exploration of theatre and commit to providing a process-based education which emphasizes the development of the whole student.


  • Register for two class sessions and get 5% off the second class.  Register for 3 sessions and get 10% off the third class.
  • Register and prepay by December 31 and receive 10% off total tuition.  Financial Aid and Scholarship opportunities may be available for dance classes.
  • Payment plans: If you wish to make monthly payments and additional 10% will be added to the total tuition amount.  Payments are due by the 15th of February, March, April and May.  All accounts that are not paid in full by February 15 will be charged the monthly payment rate.

12 weeks: January 28 – April 29

(No classes March 18 and April 15)

This fun and introductory theatre class introduces children,

along with their parents, to storytelling, character imitation,

expression, movement, and spatial awareness. Using nursey

rhymes as the basis for this series, students will sing and act

while creating a storybook as a keepsake of their journey.

IMAGINATION PLAYERS  Enroll Now!

Age 6-8

Saturday 10:00am – 11:00am

12 weeks: January 28 – April 29

(No classes March 18 and April 15)

Price: Nonmember $120, Member $100

Ready, Set, Imagine! This theatre class dives deeper into

character development and acting. Students will learn about

multiple jobs in theatre from Director to Scenic Designer,

and learn stage directions and character embodiment.

Students will also work together to create scenes and stories

using improv, critical thinking, and theatre exercises.

CREATIVE DRAMA  Enroll Now!

12 weeks: January 28 – April 29

This intermediate theatre class continues to develop the

young performer by focusing on character creation,

playwriting, improvisation, and acting techniques such as

Laban and Stanislavsky. The class will focus on monologues

and small group scenes.

Get ready to be heard! In this class students will focus on

building their performance techniques needed for musical

theatre. Not only will they work together on group songs as

well as solos, the students will also include choreography and

character development into their numbers.

Lords and Ladies of the land, prepare yourselves for battle!

This theatre class is a beginning stage combat course set

within the framework of medieval knight training. Students

will develop skills in unarmed and armed stage combat while

reinforcing the virtues of being a knight and at Wayne Center

for the Arts, it is believed that knights are both boys and

girls! Students will be able to perform safely small scenes

with choreographed combat involved. This theatre class is

necessary in young actors growth because confidence in

scenes of conflict will assure the safety of themselves and of

ACTOR’S TOOLBOX  Enroll Now!

Age 12-18

Tuesday 4:30pm-5:30pm

12 weeks: February 7 – May 2 (No class April 11)

Price: Nonmember $140, Member $120

This advanced theatre class uses previously introduced

techniques in greater detail such as Stanislavsky, Chekov, and

Meisner. Students in this class will be introduced to

monologue work and scene study while continuing work on

character creation through theatre exercises.

MUSICAL THEATRE/CABARET  Enroll Now!

Age 12-18

Tuesday 4:30pm-5:30pm

12 weeks: February 7 – May 2 (No class April 11)

Price: Nonmember $140, Member $120

Students in this class focus on putting together a cabaret or

musical review with group numbers and solos. They will use

their many talents to help pick songs and choreograph/stage

numbers culminating in a performance at the end of the

semester. Instructor: Katie Zarecki
