REGISTER BY MAY 8, 2015 AND RECEIVE $20 OFF CAMP TUITION

Extended care is available before and after camp hours.  To ensure that adequate staffing is available, arrangements for pre and post camp care should be made at registration.  Pre-camp care is available at no charge and begins one half hour before the scheduled camp start time.  Aftercare is available from 4:30-6:00 p.m.  for a weekly fee of $20.  Wayne Center for the Arts members can register for aftercare for $15 per week.

WEEK 1: June 8-12, 2015

Get Planted with Artbutterfly garden   Register Now!

Art doesn’t have to stay indoors – the garden can be a gallery, too! Students will learn about designing landscapes for beauty and purpose by creating their own dish garden and working together to design a butterfly garden for the Center. What fun, where art and science meet, in the garden!

 

 

Crazy Cool Clay Camp   Register Now!
Ages 7-9
9:00am-12:30pm $100 Members $130 Nonmembers
What do a seed pod and a rubber ducky have in common? Join this class and find out! Each artist will select and sculpt one natural object. Then through a series of morphing sculptures, we will stretch our imagination and clay to transform that into a man-made object. Each artist will have a series of finished sculptures to display at the end of the session!

We will explore what makes comics dynamic! Mastermind the fate of your own hero and villains as together we assemble a comic book panel by panel. Bring some friends and form an epic comic making team!

 

 

WEEK 2: June 15-19, 2015

Triple Threat Theatre Camp in partnership with Ohio Light Operatriple threat   Register Now!
Step into the spotlight and polish your acting, singing and dance technique in this fun, fast-paced camp!  Faculty for this camp are WCA staff members and Ohio Light Opera professionals.  Camp tuition includes two tickets to the Saturday, June 20th matinee production of Can Can at Ohio Light Opera.
Ages 5-7
1:00pm-4:30pm $110 Members $140 Nonmembers
Spend a half-day exploring movement, voice and imagination which culminates in an open class on the final day of camp.
Ages 8-10 & Ages 11-13
9am-4:30pm $190 Members $220 Nonmembers
Cycle through classes in singing, acting and dance technique. Rehearse a collection of group and solo musical numbers, scenes and monologues to be presented to family and friends on the final day of camp.
Ages 14-18
9:00am-4:30pm $190 Members $220 Nonmembers
Pick your focus: Acting, Dance or Singing and also polish your technique in the other areas. Teen actors will explore audition preparation, improvisation and special topics like stage combat and Shakespeare. Rehearse a collection of group and solo musical numbers, scenes and monologues to be presented to family and friends on the final day of camp.

Mr. Peabody, the talking dog who is the smartest being in the world, adopts your children as they hurtle back in time to experience art from the past first-hand. Greece, Rome, France, Africa and Egypt are some of the stops made in our time machine! Children will create a different project daily correlating with the travels of Peabody & Sherman.

Learn the skills to transform yourself into a modern day hero inspired by the characters in Rick Riordan’s popular Percy Jackson series! Under the guidance of theater, visual art and dance faculty, students will write a script, learn basic stage combat and create sets, props & costumes for a student-created piece about Greek myths to be performed for friends and family on the final day of camp.

One person’s trash is another’s yard art! Transform discarded objects into art that can enhance your yard or garden. Students will use recycled materials to create work for themselves, as well as pieces that will decorate the grounds of the Wayne Center for the Arts.

Learn a variety of dyeing techniques to decorate your home and your wardrobe. You’ll learn techniques that can be applied to both paper and fabric. Come and create artworks that are to dye for!

Up, Up and Away! Super Hero Multi-Disciplinary Campsuperhero camp   Register Now!
Ages 5-7 & Ages 8-10

Learn the skills to transform yourself into a superhero like the Incredibles, the Avengers or the Justice League! Under the guidance of theatre, visual art and dance faculty, students will write a script, learn dance/movement related to the theme and create sets, props & costumes for a student-created piece about super heroes to be performed from friends and family on the final day of camp.

 

African Drumming with Master Drummer Baba David Colemanbaba   Register Now!

African drumming is a musical discipline that not only requires learning musical techniques, but also involves working with other individuals to form a seamless whole. Master drummer Baba Coleman will teach students the skills to play a variety of drums and other percussion instruments, which will be featured in an end-of-the-week showcase.
