Drawing Series I 6:00pm-9:00pm   Register Now!

Create a series of drawings that are united with a singular style or theme that makes them essentially one. Examine what makes a body of art by studying working artists and their exhibitions. Hone the theme or element that makes them cohesive. Understand how to curate your own body of work and conclude with the curation of your own class group show.

Develop your clay working skills in both handbuilding and throwing on the wheel. Immerse yourself as a potter and turn a lump of clay into a finely tuned piece of art through the study of centering, pulling, trimming and surface decorating.

 

July 6-10

Art Design Challenge 9:00am-4:30pm   Register Now!

Do you love project-based reality TV shows, such as Project Runway or Work of Art? Now’s your chance to hone your skills in this challenge-based art design project. Students will work over the course of the program to design a piece that meets certain broad specifications, but will use their own style and creativity to make the project uniquely their own. The design challenge will begin as a thumbnail sketch and evolve into a finished three-dimensional product. Each day will begin with a teacher-led demonstration followed by a mini challenge for students. The winner of the day’s mini challenge will receive an art tool or accessory to give them an edge in designing with their ongoing weekly project. Each day will conclude with an in-progress critique, to both stimulate ideas and promote positive group discussion.

The Art of Clay and Yoga 9:00am-4:30pm   Register Now!

Learn how the principles of harmony and balance work across art and yoga. Explore the beauty of imperfection which is the basis for the art of Japanese tea bowl making. Create a ceramic piece, learn basic yoga and participate in a tea ceremony, which will take place at the culmination of this class.

This program is designed for committed art students who want to build a strong collection of works that will be a resource for college admission or other further study. Portfolio Club offers the chance to meet regularly with instructors, receive feedback on your work and build community with other aspiring artists.
